Physical Therapy and Medical Fitness Center

The Rockwood Physical Therapy and Medical Fitness department strives to provide the finest in therapy services.  The staff of physical therapists, an occupational therapist, certified athletic trainers, physical therapist assistants, exercise scientists, and support staff pride themselves on progressive, individualized patient care in a relaxed, fun atmosphere.

Patients are referred to the department from medical providers within and outside the Rockwood Clinic system.  The clinics are open from 7 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. most weekdays so scheduling around work and school commitments should not be a problem.

The therapists at the Rockwood Clinic Physical Therapy and Medical Fitness locations treat a variety of physical conditions including sprains and strains, neck and back pain, tendonitis and bursitis, stiffness and weakness after surgery, and other musculoskeletal limitations. They use a variety of techniques to speed recovery:  therapeutic exercise, modalities such as ultrasound and electrical stimulation, manual techniques, and patient education.  Our certified hand therapist makes custom splints for finger, hand, and writs conditions.  All treatments are progressive and require patients to perform a home program. The therapists have taken extensive continuing education courses to further advance and refine treatment skills. The therapists believe a rapid and complete recovery includes coordinating care with the referring provider as well as patient education.

The department also houses the Sports Performance Program  where athletes of all ages and abilities are challenged to improve athletic capabilities.  The Rockwood Clinic Sports Medicine Program  is coordinated from this department and many of the staff are involved with coverage of some local sporting events or teams.

The Therapy Department is one of Rockwood Clinic’s newest areas of focus, having been added in 2002.  Its growth is expected to continue, with plans for additional locations and specialized programs of wellness, pool therapy, and treatment of balance and neurological conditions.  The department is always looking for fun, dedicated professionals to join the team.
