For many women, their obstetrician or gynecologist is their primary physician. At Rockwood, this department is an integral part of a multi-specialty, integrated care approach to women’s health.

Our specialists offer total health care for low-risk and high-risk pregnancies, from prenatal care through delivery and postpartum services. Our obstetricians deliver babies and conduct C-section surgeries when medically necessary. One of our physicians is always available on a 24-hour basis.

We provide a full range of gynecology surgery and services. Dr Schade and Dr Gollhofer perform various types of gynecological surgeries such as vaginal hysterectomies, abdominal hysterectomies, tubal ligations, and other laparoscopic surgeries. They also perform incontinence surgeries in conjunction with Rockwood Clinic Urology providers.  Recent advances in gynecological care include in-office endometrial ablation procedures, previously only available in a hospital setting. This procedure provides an effective alternative to hysterectomy for patients suffering from heavy or prolonged bleeding during their period.

The department offers the Gardasil vaccine to immunize patients against HPV (human papillomavirus), which is a cause of cervical cancer. The vaccine was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in June, 2006. Other services include cancer screening, colposcopy, cryotherapy, and counseling and education for all aspects of gynecological care.
