The Rockwood Clinic Cardiology team identifies, diagnoses and treats heart diseases and cardiovascular problems. Using diagnostic tools such as EKG’s (electrocardiograms) and exercise treadmill stress tests, our cardiologists are able to identify disorders of the heart and blood vessels.
Echocardiograms show the heart’s size and how well it functions. Ultrasound studies evaluate the blood flow in the legs, and cardiac catherization shows whether there is narrowing of the arteries in the heart. Therapeutic procedures to restore the blood flow in the arteries include angioplasty (mechanical widening of the blood vessel), atherectomy (removing plaque from the artery), and placing a stent or a balloon inflation in the artery.
Other procedures include implanting pacemakers to improve the heart function and defibrillators to normalize heart rhythms. Our cardiologists specialize in peripheral vascular issues, congestive heart failure, interventional cardiology, nuclear cardiology and thrombolysis.
