NOVEMBER IS DIABETES AWARENESS MONTH

November is Diabetes Awareness month and the Rockwood Research Center would like to raise Spokane’s awareness of type II diabetes in adolescents between the ages of seven and seventeen. This group of Spokane residents is currently under diagnosed, and the Rockwood Research Center is offering a pre-screening at no charge to help identify those with the disease.

THE MAIN ELECTRODIAGNOSTIC LABORATORY AT ROCKWOOD CLINIC IS THE FIRST IN WASHINGTON STATE TO RECEIVE ACCREDITATION

The Main Electrodiagnostic Laboratory at Rockwood Clinic is the first laboratory in Washington State to receive Exemplary Laboratory Accreditation status from the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AANEM). Scott E. Carlson, M.D., FAAN, certified by the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine (ABEM), is the laboratory’s medical director.

Glen R. Stream, M.D., FAAFP, MBI, a family physician at Rockwood Clinic in Spokane, Wash., has been chosen president-elect of the American Academy of Family Physicians.  Previously, he served three years as a member of the AAFP Board of Directors. The AAFP represents 94,700 physicians and medical students nationwide. Stream was elected to the position by the Congress of Delegates, the AAFP’s governing body, during the organization’s annual meeting this week in Denver.

Rockwood Clinic will hold flu clinics on October 9th and November 6th from 8:00 AM to 2:00PM at our Main Clinic, Cheney Clinic, North Clinic, Valley Clinic and Quail Run Clinic locations.  Both seasonal and H1N1 vaccinations will be available.

Rockwood Clinic moves forward with the development of an integrated healthcare delivery system with the relocation three Downtown Spokane clinical locations this weekend. The moves include: The Rockwood Digestive Health - Endoscopy Center, Rockwood Heart Center and the Rockwood Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) which will become a Hospital Outpatient Department (HOPD) and services will be integrated into Deaconess Medical Center.
